MV YWAM PNG

Puma Energy fuels medical ship bringing vital health care to remote PNG

In 2015, Puma Energy partnered with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) to provide health care access to remote communities in Papua New Guinea (PNG) and West Papua.

With 43 per cent of its population under the age of 15, one of PNG’s biggest health challenges is that one in four of its children will not live to celebrate their 40th birthday.

As Australia’s nearest neighbour, Puma Energy is committed to ensuring Papua New Guineans live longer and have a better quality of life.

Fuelled by Puma Energy, the MV YWAM PNG medical ship travels to remote communities to alleviate isolation and medical infrastructure challenges by delivering primary care, optometry, dentistry and training services.

In the last year alone, the MV YWAM PNG facilitated the delivery of more than 71,000 healthcare services to over 40,000 people in 125 villages across both provinces.

Puma Energy has committed to supply fuel (diesel, Zoom and lubricants) for the ship to a value in excess of K1 million per annum, totalling more than K3 million as part of a two-year sponsorship agreement.

This contract represents a continuation of an agreement held by YWAM and InterOil prior to Puma Energy's acquisition of the downstream and refining business in July 2014.

Puma Energy is proud to be fuelling a ship that works towards such a fantastic cause and we are honoured to be able to contribute to its life-saving work.
